Truth Be Told welcomes graduate Laurie Pherigo to the team

We at Truth Be Told are thrilled to welcome Laurie Pherigo in her new role as administrative assistant, providing vital support to the organization’s programs, business operations and community relations.

Laurie’s career with Truth Be Told began in 2012, when she participated in and graduated from our Talk to Me program at TDCJ’s Hilltop Unit in Gatesville. The following year, she served as classroom mentor. In 2016, Laurie received Quilt No. 48 as part of Truth Be Told’s Quilt Project, a legacy program started by founder Carol Chandler Waid that recognizes graduates who are three years free of incarceration and have chosen to stay in community with Truth Be Told.

For the past four years, Laurie has played an integral role in developing and facilitating Let’s Get Real, Truth Be Told’s reentry program at Lockhart Correctional Facility.

In addition to her work with Truth Be Told, Laurie is a certified reentry employment specialist and a fellow with the Austin/Travis County Reentry Roundtable. She also is a vocal advocate for criminal justice reform. You often can find her at the Texas Capitol and community gatherings, using her voice and sharing her story to inspire change.

Welcome to the team, Laurie!
