We are outraged and deeply saddened by the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others, and we stand against the systemic racism that enables acts of violence against Black communities and people of color by the police and criminal justice system.
At its May meeting, the Truth Be Told Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve Sandy Wolff’s application for board service. Since moving to Austin in June 2017, Sandy has been a familiar and regular face — and voice — in Truth Be Told volunteer community.
We at Truth Be Told are thrilled to welcome Laurie Pherigo in her new role as administrative assistant, providing vital support to the organization’s programs, business operations and community relations.
Laurie’s career with Truth Be Told began in 2012, when she participated in and graduated from our Talk to Me program at TDCJ’s Hilltop Unit in Gatesville.
At Truth Be Told’s March board meeting, the amazing people at RecognizeGood came to honor our board chair Donna Snyder with its Legends Award, which “illuminates selfless individuals who go to extraordinary lengths for others in order to inspire community citizenship, promote volunteerism and show gratitude for the good being done all around us daily.”
Complementary paths in education and nonprofit leadership have led Emily Lederman to Truth Be Told as the organization’s new program director, a position held previously by Truth Be Told co-founder Carol Waid, who retired in December.
