YWCA partnership brings counseling to graduates post-release

With an eye toward deepening the support offered to program graduates once they are released from prison, Truth Be Told has entered into a partnership with YWCA Greater Austin to bring low- and no-cost individual counseling to graduate peer facilitators and women enrolled in Truth Be Told’s virtual Healing Trauma program.

“Learning to heal from past trauma can stir up a lot,” said Executive Director Katie Ford. “We want to ensure the women who courageously engage in this personal growth work have all the support they need. The same applies to our graduates who now facilitate our programs. Holding space for healing work requires a lot of a person. It’s important the caregivers are cared for too.”

Truth Be Told explored several service providers before deciding to pursue a partnership with YWCA. The organization’s focus on social justice and cultural-relational approach to therapy made YWCA Greater Austin stand out among the rest.
